Runners take top spots at invite

Senior Andrew Sesti was the top racer at the Hanson’s Invitational on Saturday at Freedom Hill County Park.
Sesti finished in first place in the time of 16:36.9 as the Clarkston Boys Cross Country team finished in second place with 48 points.
The top five finishes for the Wolves also included senior Joey Taverna in second place, 16:47.6; sophomore Bryce Nowik, ninth, 17:34; sophomore Andrew Floros, 11th, 17:47.9; and junior Henry Poploskie, 26th, 18:20.1.
The top ten teams in the Division 1 race were Stoney Creek in first place with 46 points; Utica Eisenhower, third, 79; Rochester, fourth, 147; Troy Athens, fifth, 151; Bloomfield Hills, sixth, 167; Macomb Dakota, seventh, 198; Utica Ford, eighth, 222; Royal Oak, ninth, 253; and Brother Rice, tenth, 290.
The Clarkston Girls Cross Country team finished in first place with 93 points.
Sophomore Alexandra Brigham led the team, finishing in second place in the time of 19:31.7. Freshman Lily Miles finished in ninth place, 21:03.6; senior Mackenzie Montigano, tenth, 21:04.3; junior Cate Cotter, 14th, 21:17.3; and sophomore Nora Miller, 26th, 21:57.1.
The top ten teams also included Stoney Creek in second place with 96 points; Rochester, third, 125; Bloomfield Hills, fourth, 148; Royal Oak, fifth, 152; Novi, sixth, 191; Utica Eisenhower, eighth, 201; Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest, ninth, 252; and Armada, tenth, 270.
The teams competed in the second OAA Red Jamboree at Bloomer Park, Sept. 28.
The boys finished in fourth place in the varsity race with 76 points.
Sesti finished in first place in the time of 16:36.1; Poploskie, second, 17:07.6; sophomore Matthew Boor, 24th, 18:34.4; senior Hunter Bogar, 26th, 18:37.7; and freshman Jaxson Nowik, 29th, 18:40.8.
Oxford finished in first place with 34 points; Lake Orion, second, 50; Troy, third, 74; Birmingham Seaholm, fifth, 143; and Rochester Adams, sixth, 166.
The boys finished in fourth place in the JV race with 98 points with freshman Braden Waechter in second place, 18:53.30.
The girls team finished in fifth place in the varsity race with 118 points.
Miles led the pack finishing in 20th place in the time of 21:54.3; freshman Lauren Williams, 23rd, 22:18.7; freshman Kendall Sieradski, 25th, 22:26; senior Crysta Gasiorowski, 26th, 22:26.8; and sophomore Morgan Poploski, 29th, 22:41.
Oxford finished in first place with 27 points; Troy, second, 58; Lake Orion, third, 87; Birmingham Seaholm, fourth, 92; and Rochester Adams, sixth, 125.
Freshman Noelle Ward led the four girls in the JV race and finished in 22nd place in the time of 24:56.80.
The Wolves head to the Oakland County High School Cross Country Championship this Saturday at Kensington Metropark. They head to the Oxford Invite at Friendship Park off Clarkston Road on Friday, October 15.
