Sashabaw work

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to start road work on Sashabaw Road from I-75 to Clarkston Road in Independence Township on Monday, April 22.
The $4.8 million project includes reconstruction and widening Sashabaw Road to five lanes, traffic signal modifications, new water main leads, drainage improvements, and new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks and crosswalks.
Two-way traffic and access to businesses and homes will be maintained throughout the project, which is funded by Independence Township, RCOC, and Oakland County through the Tri-Party Program.
Workers removed trees and installed sanitary sewers last year to prepare for this year’s project, which is is expected to be completed in late fall. Contractor is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township.
