They started the match three points behind the visiting team last Thursday and slowly eased their way back up until they tied at ten points.
Both teams stayed close in point until the very end and Clarkston won the last match, 25-23. They won the game 3-0 after winning the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17.
“It is a big win for us,” said Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach Kelly Avenall. “I am happy we won.”
The win put the Wolves 3-0 in the OAA Red. The girls sailed through their first set against the Lady Raiders and kept their opposition to 21 points.
The next match the girls started behind points and found themselves at 2-7. They quickly moved up on the scoreboard to win, 25-17.
“It’s good we can fight back,” said Avenall.
In the last two matches the girls confidence helped them to come out on top, Avenall added.
“They feel like they can, which is also something we are struggling with right now. Sometimes they are too confident.”
The girls didn’t show off all of the talent they had against North Farmington and their game on Sept. 21 against Farmington.
“We are getting into a low,” said Avenall. “We aren’t as playing as hard as I would like us to play. We are taking some opponents too lackadaisical.”
Senior Allison Reis agreed.
“We definitely played down a lot,” she added. “But we have to get out of it. A win is a win. We definitely have to step it up and play better.”
The Lady Wolves beat Farmington, 3-0, ending the three sets 25-22, 25-19, 25-20.
“We have just been doing enough to win, but not playing the way they know they can play and I know we can play,” said Avenall.
Haley Barker had three aces and 12 assists against Farmington. Jessica Frakes had 12 kills and Rachel Dickerson had four aces.
Barker also did well against North Farmington adding three aces and 14 assists to her stats. Stephanie Marani had six kills and six blocks and Frakes had six kills.
The girls played Troy on Tuesday and head to Lahser on Thursday.
“Going on the road is always tough,” said Avenall. “Troy is young but they have a really good coach. Lahser is also young.”
They play in the Marian Invite on Saturday before heading home to host a Quad on Oct. 5, 5:30 p.m.
The girls have an 19-1-1 overall record.
