With a mix of wins and losses to open the season, Clarkston High School bowlers shared everything was going well.
“It’s going good so far,” said Cale Herzenstiel from the Wolves Boys Varsity Bowling team, adding he knows what he has to work on to make his personal game better. “For me, it’s consistency. I can throw the ball well and get spares. I just can’t do it multiple times.”
“Things we should work on are consistency and spare shooting,” said Patrick McLetchie. “Cale, me and our freshman team continue to keep our scores high so far. We have led our team to do well up to this point.”
Ashley Elinski added the girls varsity team started off well, too.
“Our scores have been pretty high so that’s good,” she said. “Our averages are good, too. We are not perfect. We are working on becoming better.”

They are working towards personal goals and team goals as they came back from holiday break.
Hannah Turk and Elinski shared they are working on being consistent in their game and also the whole team is working on being supportive of each other.
“We need to work on being supportive of each other and cheering each other on when we are doing well and helping to pick each other up when we aren’t doing too well,” Elinski said. “Some personal things I need to work on is being consistent with every first ball I throw because when I go to college to bowl that’s what it’s going to be the most important is throwing the same shot every time.”
Turk added she is working on being a better team leader.
“It’s what you have to do when you have new people,” Turk added. “Ashley and me have been bowling for a long time. We have more experience. It’s hard for the other teammates because they get more frustrated.”
“As a team I want to see more consistency and more of not getting too high or too low that emotionally on the same level,” McLetchie said.
All four look forward to regionals.
“It’s a long ways away but always exciting,” Elinski smiled.
“Hoping to do really good in regionals,” Herzenstiel added. “If we could make states that would be really cool.”
