Support appreciated for Garden Walk

Dear Editor,
The Clarkston Farm and Garden Club would like to thank the Clarkston community for your attendance at the 14th Annual Clarkston Garden Walk. Over 350 residents from the Clarkston and the surrounding communities were able to attend the walk.
We wish to thank our fabulous gardeners: Ginny and Leo Knowlden, Sue and Bob Sajdak, Jim Slezinski, Kat and James Stauffer, Lorie and Jim Willing, and Victoria and Brad Wisniewski for opening their beautiful gardens to the public. Their gardens looked picture perfect and they were so wonderful to work with.
We were happy to see a “no rain” day for the walk even if it was a bit warm. Our Artisan Market is always open to the public with lots of beautiful items for sale. Thank you to the Clarkston Independence District Library and their staff for help on the day of the walk and our ticket sellers: Bordines of Clarkston, Gateway, Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, Harrisons, and the library. And a special thanks to VIBE Credit Union, our ticket sponsor as well as local advertisers.
There were local artists and musicians, who volunteered in the garden to entertain the garden walkers during the day and we appreciate their talents. It made the Walk a memorable experience for the community.
Restaurants in the area also offered discount prices to the garden walkers and garden walkers enjoyed the hospitality of Clarkston restaurants. Due to some parking concerns, the Independence and Lake Orion Oakland County Sheriff’s substations were most helpful.
Clarkston is a great community and working with all partners, helped make the 14th Annual Garden Walk a unique experience. Thank you Clarkston community!
Know that all the funds from the walk will go into student education in environmental science and ecology as well as mini grants for teachers and scholarships for Clarkston students and beautification at the Clarkston Independence District Library and the downtown planters. We also donate to 4-H, the Clarkston Family Farm and the community gardens.
