Three All-State finishes in Clarkston wrestling

Senior Ashton Anderson finished the MHSAA Division 1 Wrestling Individual Finals as state champion in the 125-pound class
He went 4-0 for the competition opening with falls over Northville’s Jack Gattoni, 3:01; and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central’s Mason Childers, 1:59.
He won his match over Battle Creek Lakeview’s Brad Collins due to injury before going 9-2 against Stoney Creek’s Andrew Hampton for the state championship.
He finished the season with a 26-4 record.
Senior Grady Castle finished in fourth place in the 152-pound weight class. He went 4-2 for the day with wins over Dearborn Edsel Ford with a fall, 4:49; Belleville’s Connor Williams with a fall, 4:28; Grandville’s Anthony Taylor, 3-1; and Utica’s Kyle Walsh with a fall, 3:42.
Castle lost to Birmingham Seaholm’s Jackson Vance in the quarterfinals and in the third place match, both with a 3-2 score. He finished the season with a 26-5 record.
Sophomore Auggie Anderson finished in eighth place in the 130-pound weight class while going 2-3 for the day and finishing the season, 12-7.
He posted wins over White Lake Lakeland’s Luke Jaworski, 8-0; and Rockford’s Logan Schwartz, 13-0.
He lost to Grandville’s Tyler Herrema, 5-2; Holt’s Jason Jones, 8-6; and Jaworski in the seventh place match by a fall, 2:44.
Senior John Lord lost his first two rounds in the competition in the 160-pound weight class. He lost to Fraser’s Eddie Williams, 8-3; and Detroit Catholic Central’s Cameron Adams, 19-3. Lord finished the season with an 14-14 record.
The Clarkston Varsity Wrestling team finished the season in the Elite Eight.
They lost to Hartland in the MHSAA Division 1 Quarterfinals on March 30, 64-10.
Ashton Anderson opened the meet with a fall over Ethan Kinch within two minutes.
Castle posted four more points for the Wolves winning his match against Brad Busby in a major decision, 15-1.
