American Legion Post 63, 8047 Ortonville Road, hosts a presentation on the North Oakland County Veterans Treatment Court, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Patrick Kittle and Judge Kelley Kostin will present information on the court, which seeks to address underlying issues bringing veterans into the criminal justice system.  As a result of military service, veterans may sustain physical and/or psychological injuries resulting in substance abuse, homelessness, mental health disorders, and sometimes criminal behavior.

Veterans admitted to the court undergo two years of intense court oversight and treatment.

The Friends of the North Oakland County Veterans Treatment Court includes veterans and community volunteers to help vets assimilate back into civilian life by removing obstacles preventing them from focusing on healthy lifestyles.
