Week-long camp provides hope, optimism

Many Everest students signed up for the ECYD camp after participating in this spring’s B16 Tournament where the spirit and enthusiasm of ECYD is lived.
ECYD is an acronym – “Encounters, Convictions, Your Decisions.”
This summer’s five-day camp had the theme “Hope Lights the Way.” Mountaineers joined other girls from the area at Subiaco Retreat Center in Oxford for a week of fun, games, and prayer.
Everest high school students helped serve as team leaders during the week. Former international program students also returned to join their former classmates as team leaders.
According to the ECYD website, ecyd.org, “We are an international Catholic association of adolescents who make a pledge of friendship with Christ and with each other to build up a new world according to the Gospel. We are adolescents who live the charism of the Regnum Christi movement.”
The ECYD name denotes the dynamic of ECYD’s life. Through different experiences of encounter, adolescents acquire firm life convictions and learn to make free and responsible decisions according to Gospel criteria.
