Weekend results mixed for Icers

Icers split their league games last week with a win against Birmingham Unified and a loss to Rochester United.
‘We played well against Birmingham and got the win,? said Clarkston Coach Bryan Krygier.
The boys scored three goals in the last period against Birmingham on Thursday night and won the game, 4-2.
Jack Schlau scored two goals in the win. Michael Fiteny and Adam Frank added with their own goal.
Senior Garrett Knappe was back in the net and saved 18 shots on goal. The team made 23 shots on goal.
The boys followed it with Saturday’s game at Rochester United.
‘We came back and played awful against Rochester. We had penalty trouble and were in the box the whole game. We were chippy and we didn’t respond to anything. We played soft and we didn’t beat them to any pucks, they out shot us.?
The Wolves started the game in control of the puck and took it into Rochester’s territory, but a turnover gave Rochester control of the puck.
Both teams remained scoreless until the second period when Alec Suleskey scored the first goal for Rochester four minutes in.
The Wolves were determined to tie the score and played a fierce period for control of the puck.
Less than two minutes remained in the period and Cole Schaffer skated up the middle of the rink and took a shot on goalie Valentino Lisi. The puck went into the net and the boys tied the score.
The Wolves led the puck into Rochester’s territory after facing off in the beginning of the last period.
Matt Campbell and Tyler Frakes shot towards the net, but were blocked by Lisi.
With eight minutes left in the game, Sulesky scored one more for Rochester where the game ended, 2-1.
Knappe saved 43 shots on Clarkston’s net and the boys made ten shots on the goal.
The Wolves host Port Huron Northern on Thursday at Detroit Skate Club. The game begins at 6 p.m.
They will play West Bloomfield on Saturday in the OAA Showcase at Troy Sports Center. The game begins at 8:30 p.m.
Krygier doesn’t know what to expect in this week’s games.
‘It’s a day to day game with these guys. I don’t know if we will win 10-0 or lose. It doesn’t help if we continue to play like we did tonight. It doesn’t matter if it’s 5-1, or 5-4 we are still losing.?
The boys record is now 4-10.
