White Cane Week, April 27-May 5

The Clarkston Area Lions Club will take to the streets and store fronts of the Clarkston area from April 27 through May 5 to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Week.
Funds donated will be used to support many sight and hearing projects, including Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Lions Bear Lake Camp for Physically Challenged Youth in Lapeer, Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor, Beaumont Silent Children Fund, and the District 11A2 Lions Hearing Program for Oakland and Macomb Counties.
“Money raised during White Cane Week will also allow Lions to meet the needs in our community, including such items as eyeglass and hearing aid support for those in need and vision screening of pre-school children,” said club President Bob Murdock. “Prior year White Cane donations from our community helped our club purchase an automated vision assessment tool used at our monthly vision screenings at the Clarkston Independence District Library and other local events.”
The Lions also help Clarkston Independence District Library provide reading facilities and materials for the sight impaired, and support Clarkston Lighthouse.
“Lions Club members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community,” Murdock said.
