Wolfpack Update for February 12, 2020

Three swimmers and three relay teams represented Clarkston as they competed in the Oakland County Swim and Dive meet in Waterford, Feb. 7-8.
Junior Valen Kurmaniak finished in 13th place in the 50-yard freestyle event, 22.58; and in 27th place in the 100-yard freestyle even, 50.97. Sophomore Zachary Yamanoha finished in 30th place for the 100-yard backstroke, 59.70; and finished in 33rd place in the 100-yard butterfly, 56.81.
Junior Owen Brown finished in 30th place in the 100-yard breaststroke, 1:07.77.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in 21st place in the time of 1:37.39; the 200-yard medley relay, 22nd place, 1:47.85; and the 400-yard freestyle relay team, 26th place, 3:45.13.
The Wolves host Rochester Adams this Thursday, 6 p.m. They head to the league meet at Lake Orion, Feb. 26-28.

The Clarkston Boys JV Ski team finished in sixth place and was challenged by some tough competitors in the Giant Slalom. They were led by sophomore A.J. Damone in 21st place; freshman Bo Begley, 34th; Hunter Houghton, 42nd; and senior Jacob Draksler, 48th.  Also racing were junior Miles Benson and freshman Bedford Muzzy.
The top finishers for Clarkston in the Super G race were Damone in 22nd place and Begley in 36th place.  Out of 141 racers, Houghton, Benson, Draksler and Muzzy gave an energetic effort as well.
The boys finished fifth in the Pine Knob JV Divisional race. Begley led with a 16th place finish with Houghton in 26th place; Damone, 29th; and Muzzy, 35th, scoring. Draksler and Benson also raced.

The Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball team posted a 58-50 win over Southfield Arts & Technology last Thurday.
The Wolves finished the first half with a 27-24 lead. They opened the third quarter with a 9-point run in the second game of the season against the Warriors.
Sophomore Madison Skorupski led with 18 points. Senior Taylor Heaton scored 14 points; sophomore Izzy Hadley had ten points; and junior Morgan Hunter had 12 rebounds.
The Wolves (11-3, 6-2 OAA Red) host West Bloomfield on Friday and Lakeland on Monday. JV begins at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows.

The Clarkston Varsity Competitive Cheer team finished the Oakland Athletic Association White Championship with 689.18 points on Saturday at Oxford High School.
They scored 217.2 points during the first round; 191.68, second round; 280.3, third round.
They competed in the L’Anse Creuse Invitational on Feb. 1 and finished in fourth place. They scored a total of 684.74 points. They scored 218.4 points in the first round; 191.94, second round; 282.4, third round.

The Clarkston Varsity Hockey team lost in overtime to Livonia Franklin last Friday, 3-2.
Cameron Thomas and Ben Zielke both scored in the third period to tie the score at two points for the Wolves. Logan McGivern had two assists. Joey Ketzler and Cole Goble had one assist each. Jakob Harper had 16 saves in the net. The Wolves made 21 shots on goal.
Clarkston (10-9) opened the week at Farmington United. They play Bloomfield Hills on Thursday at Detroit Skating Club, 6 p.m.; and play M-1 United on Friday at John Lindell Ice Arena, 7 p.m. They play in the OAA/MAC Showcase on Monday.
