Wins on the court

The Clarkston Boys Varsity Basketball team posted wins over Ferndale and Detroit King last week.
The Wolves finished their game over Ferndale with a 66-49 win, Jan. 22. Sophomore Fletcher Loyer led with 18 points and had four assists. Loyer had three field goals, putting his career total at 79 for 15th place in Clarkston history for field goals made. Senior Cole Donchez had 15 points and four rebounds; senior Matt Nicholson had 12 points and 13 rebounds; sophomore Keegan Wasilk had 11 points and six assists; sophomore Nate Steinman had seven points and six rebounds; and sophomore Mike DePillo had three points and two rebounds.
The Wolves defeated Detroit King in a postponed game on Jan. 20, 55-41. Loyer led with 26 points and three assists. Nicholson had 14 points, 21 rebounds and seven blocks; Wasilk had five points, eight assists; and Donchez had four points and two rebounds.
Clarkston defeated North Farmington on Monday, Jan. 27, 55-45. Nicholson led with 22 points with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Loyer had 17 points; Wasilk had eight points and six assists and Donchez four points and three assists.
The Wolves host West Bloomfield for Chad Tough Night this Friday, 7 p.m. The players will sign team posters following the game.

The Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball team battled and won a close game against Royal Oak last Thursday, 46-42.
Senior Taylor Heaton led with 15 points and had seven rebounds. Junior Olivia Toderan scored 13 points and junior Kaelyn Kaul had nine points. Junior Morgan Hunter had eight rebounds during the night.
The Wolves play Lake Orion at Oakland University O’rena on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. Clarkston hosts Stoney Creek for Chad Tough Night on Friday. JV plays at 4 p.m., varsity follows at 5:30 p.m.

 

Loss to Orion

Clarkston Varsity Hockey lost to Lake Orion on Saturday, 3-1.
Both teams were tied at one after the first period before the Dragons scored during the next two periods. Joey Ketzler scored the lone goal for Clarkston with an assist from Charles Eppink and Logan McGivern. They made 26 shots on the net and Jakob Harper had 25 saves in the net.
The Wolves opened the week with a 5-0 loss to Utica Eisenhower, Jan. 20. During the game the Wolves put 31 shots on the goal and Harper had 23 saves.
The Wolves defeated OAA foe Stoney Creek 5-2, Jan. 16. Charles Eppink had two goals. Brandt Botterill had one goal and one assist. Jamison Eppink and Hunter Carene had one goal each. McGivern and Ryan Galligan had two assists each and Andrew Stewart had one goal
The Wolves (10-7, 5-3 OAA) play Birmingham Unified at the Birmingham Ice Arena on Saturday, 6 p.m.
