Wolves set to take down Lake Orion this week

Grappler Evan King stepped onto the mat to take on Matt Bienick from Rochester Adams. Clarkston was only two points behind and King had wrestled Bienick twice already and lost.
Through the six minute match King held on and went for the win defeating Bienick, 7-4.
‘Evan had a huge victory at 152,? said Clarkston Coach Joe DeGain. ‘He was able to beat him tonight, which was the difference between winning and losing that dual meet for us.?
King’s win brought the team one point ahead of Adams, and with more victories from Derek Booker, Sloan Hadsall and Mike Richmond the boys finished the meet, 32-30.
‘Coming here tonight a lot of people and the press were counting us out,? said DeGain.
Adams was undefeated in the league and had only lost twice earlier in the season to Dundee and Detroit Catholic Central.
‘Adams was supposed to beat us,? continued DeGain. ‘They should be thrilled about defeating Adams. We were beat up a little and they were beat up a little. That’s when the real test of character comes out – keeping up with the opponent and getting the job done. They did a great job of that tonight.?
Jeff Sloney (119) put the Wolves on the board by defeating Adams? Chris Lillie in overtime, 4-2. Ty Foltz (125) defeated his opponent, 4-2 and Matt Deitz (135) added points after pinning Dan McKay less than a minute into the match.
Alex Popp (145) win over Mac Fisher put the Wolves two points behind Adams.
The boys took on Rochester in the next meet and won, 35-28.
‘Rochester is a really good team,? said DeGain. ‘We had some really good things happen.?
The Wolves led from the beginning of the meet when Kyle Kenyon (112) won his match, 15-12 and Sloney followed with a pin.
Clarkston continued with a strong lead with wins from Mike Henige (130), Deitz, Chris Burkhart (140), Popp and King and brought the score up to 31-3.
Rochester tried to catch up by winning three matches, each one ending with a pin against Clarkston.
‘Sloan Hadsall stepped in and put a stop on their comeback,? said DeGain. ‘Kyle Kenyon came in big for us against Rochester.?
The team heads to Lake Orion (21-5) on Wednesday for their last meet of the regular season.
‘If we can show up and bring our big boy pants I think we will be just fine,? said DeGain.
On Monday, some of the Dragons were recovering from injuries and a few wrestlers had been hit by the flu bug.
‘We’re not going in full strength,? said Lake Orion Coach Doug Kline. ‘On the positive side, our team has a lot of depth if one is out we can replace with someone who can fill in the spot. We are going to put our 14 best out there and see what happens.?
The Dragons are looking forward to seeing Clarkston
