Zak leads lacrossers in double victory

Senior Adam Zak moved into an open position and kept his eyes on his teammates as the ball was passed from lacrosse stick to lacrosse stick.
Clarkston held control of the ball during the last half of the game against Grand Blanc and celebrated their second victory of the night, 11-2.
Zak scored five goals during the game and assisted on two goals.
‘I think we played really good,? said Zak. ‘We came out a little flat, but we definitely picked up in the second half.?
The boys scored four goals during the first half, but they they knew they could do better and continue to hold onto the lead over Grand Blanc.
‘The first half I thought was a little slow, a little sloppy. I think they felt the same way, we talked about it at halftime.,? said Coach Brian Kaminskas. ‘We just said ‘look, you need to play at the level you are suppose to play at.??
Zak contributed the boys? motivation to Kaminskas? talk .
‘He has a good way of picking us up and getting us to play better,? he said.
The boys stormed to the field and held onto possession of the ball.
Within the first two minutes, Zak rounded behind the net and ran along the side before putting it into the net.
Chapin White, Forbes Dever and Andrew Miller followed suit, adding three more goals within a minute, before the third quarter wrapped.
‘I was really excited about the win,? said Kaminskas. ‘The last three games we have played, the confidence has started to show and everything we have been working on. The skill, the position, the moments in between the boxes when they can make a quick pass. They are making smart choices, good passes.?
The Wolves limited the amount of times the ball turned over to Grand Blanc and were fast to get control back.
Jon Avery was the second highest shooter, with two goals made.
The boys made a total of 46 shots during the night and 22 of them were on the net.
Goalies Jeff Turner made seven saves and Jack Ryan had two.
Zak shared the lead with Avery in the boys first win of the season when they beat Rochester United. They both scored four goals.
‘Zak has come along this season,? said Kaminskas. ‘He is a senior and a captain and has been stepping up and leading by example.?
The win over Rochester gave the boys the boost they needed going into the game against the Bobcats.
‘It gave us a lot of confidence,? said Zak.
‘We started to play better and we all played a lot better. Our chemistry has been clicking really well.?
The boys will return from spring break and play at West Bloomfield High School on Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m.
‘They are playing together and playing like a team. I am happy.?
