Addison says yes to Wireless Oakland

The Addison Township Board of Trustees voted unanamously at their Oct. 16 meeting to adopt a resolution to enter a contract with Oakland County for its Wireless Oakland initiative.
Wireless Oakland is a county-wide intitiative to ‘blanket? the county with wireless internet service with a portion of bandwidth free to every person.
Including Addison Twp., 51 of the 62 municipalities have signed up for the service so far.
Before the board decided to enter into the contract with the county, it sent Trustee Claudia VonDrak to the city of Wixom to get an idea of how it’s wireless program has been running. She even spoke with the local government and said they were ‘very, very pleased with it.?
The Addison board also designated trustee Ed Brakefield as the township’s Wireless Oakland contact for the county.
The county will now begin to set up internet access points in the township based on population density. The entire county is expected to be fully converted to wireless internet by late 2007.
