Congratulations to Barb Johnston, a fourth grade teacher at Oxford Elementary, who won the Lakes Community Credit Union Mini-Grant last week.
Lakes Community Credit Union presented Johnston with the $250 grant for her request to purchase an AlphaSmart laptop, which consists of a small keyboard students can take to their desk to type their writing on.
‘I wanted to get something to help with students who have fine motor problems or who just have a very hard time keeping up with writing in class,? she said.
This is the second year in a row that Johnston’s application was chosen.
The mini-grant provides teachers with money to fund a program or project schools cannot pay for.
