MTV Teen Cribs? finds local home

Atlas Twp.- Chloe Slade needed a break from her studies.
Chloe, 18, a 2009 Goodrich High School graduate and Syracuse University freshman was preparing for fall semester exams and just happened to visit the MTV website.
‘There’s a section called, ‘MTV Teen Cribs casting calls,?? said Chloe. ‘So I sent pictures of my house and a biography of my family. Five minutes later the casting director called me back and asked for more pictures. It all worked out and on Jan. 10, a film crew, producer and set coordinator for MTV came to our house.?
MTV, Music Television, launched on Aug.1, 1981. It’s original purpose was to play music videos guided by on-air hosts known as VJs (Video Jockeys). Now, MTV continues to play a limited selection of music videos, but has since expanded to include popular culture and reality television shows aimed at younger viewers.
The MTV Teen Cribs show features unique homes of youth between the ages of 13-21, which may include a game room, theater, or pool house that has become the perfect ‘chill? spot for friends according to the show’s website.
The half-hour show will feature the Slade home on the shores of Lake Shinanguag.
Chloe said the MTV film crew and producers mapped out a route through her house in a way that made sense to viewers and included interviews with sisters Cassidy, 15, and Chyna, 11, who are current Goodrich students. In addition, about 16 friends stopped by for the filming, which took about 12 hours to complete. About seven of her friends were interviewed by MTV for the show, which is set to air in March.
‘I opened the door to my house and said, ‘What’s up, MTV? I’m Chloe, welcome to my crib,?? she said.
A communications major at Syracuse University, she anticipates a future internship with MTV.
