The deadline to be placed on the May ballot for an open seat on the Goodrich School Board is 4 p.m., Feb. 9.
Those individuals interested should file a petition with six electors signatures or pay a $100 filing fee with the Genesee County Election Coordinator. The address for the county clerk’s office is 900 South Saginaw St., Flint.
In June 2009 the school board voted 5-1 to appoint district resident Lynne Morisette, replacing long-time Trustee Michael Thorp, who resigned on May 6 when he moved from the district to Flint. Morisette will serve until June 30 and have the opportunity to run for the seat on the May school board ballot.
The term will expire in 2011.
Last June, five candidates were interested in filling Thorp’s board position: Sheila Blickensdorf, a homemaker and GHS graduate; Paul Cottrell, who is employed by Trelleborg and a parent of two students in the district; Mark Griffiths, a salesman for Akzon Nobel Coatings, Lynne Morisette, a bookkeeper, and Kevin Smith, a GHS graduate
