The Clarkston Everest Collegiate Girls Cross Country team went to team camp during the last week of July.
The team camp is always a highlight of the season with lots of time for team building, theory sessions, and fun between the twice-a-day workouts. The team has the opportunity to get to know one another better and welcome new team members.
This year’s team shows a lot of promise with new freshmen joining the squad. Alumni and former cross country runner Monica Williams, 2018 graduate of Everest Collegiate, chaperoned the camp with head coach Mary Williams.
All runners had to complete a minimum of 85 summer miles between June 1 and the start of camp to attend the camp. During the three and a half days of camp, the team completed workouts totaling over 26 miles.
The Mountaineers open the season at the Michigan Catholic Invite on Saturday, Aug. 28.
The girls cross country team holds back-to-back regional championships and the 2020 Catholic High School League championship.
