Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old Island Lake Dr. resident after his mother reported that he struck her and then hit her with a crutch.
On Sept. 22, sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Island Lake Dr. home around 7 p.m. to find the 18-year-old suspect ‘sitting in a rocking chair crying.? According to the sheriff’s report, the youth had marks on his arms and informed officers he was contemplating suicide.
According to the report, the youth informed the deputies that he had been arguing with his mother when she ‘smacked him.? The report states the youth then admitted he punched and hit his mother, and that he used his crutch to hit her.
The accounts listed in the report by the mother and a witness detailed a similar serious of events. The report states the mother added that the youth began giving himself ‘superficial? cuts on the arm prior to hitting her. The woman claims that when she attempted to stop him, he began to hit her. Officers noted in the report that they observed ‘defensive? injuries on the mother.
In addition, the deputies noted in the report that the young man had been receiving prescription medication from his mother. The report states the woman is ‘a registered nurse and she has been unable to get her son an appointment to see a doctor so she has been sharing her medication (Lexipro) with her son.?
The deputies had the 18-year-old transported for medical attention. He was cleared by the hospital and taken to the Oakland County Jail where officers charged him with felonious assault other weapon.
