The Lake Orion Lions Club is turning 70-years-old, and they want your help in celebrating.
The club is looking for stories of the services they’ve provided over the years.
‘We spend $25,000 to $40,000 a year in the community,? said First Vice President Jack Patton. ‘There’s a lot of need out there.?
The list of Lion-sponsored programs is anything but short, and includes things like their annual holiday baskets and the Bear Lake Camp for special needs, founded by longtime Lake Orion Lion Al Kassin.
Those with memories of anything club-related should send their stories/letters to The Lake Orion Review for publication on Oct. 8, to be incorporated into the 70th anniversary celebration.
The club will hold a special program on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Canterbury Castle Banquet Center, and the public is invited.
That event includes dinner and a cash bar, along with a presentation on the Lake Orion club and Lions International. It all begins with social time at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the 70th anniversary celebration are $30, and reservations (with checks payable to the Lake Orion Lions Club) can be sent to Lion Al Kassin at 1873 Hunters Lane, Lake Orion, MI 48360.
Meanwhile, Lions Club memories can be mailed to 30 N. Broadway, Lake Orion, MI 48362 or e-mailed to lakeorionreview@sbcglobal.net.
