Three men from Oakland County, including one from Clarkston, are facing drug and weapons charges after police raided an illegal rave club and a house in Pontiac on August 27.
The Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team launched an investigation into a residence on Dakota Street in Pontiac, which led to a search warrant where police arrested Steven Michael Robiadek, 35, of Clarkston, Thomas David Miller, 36, of Pontiac, and James Crawford Walker, 28, of Oxford at the house located on Dakota Street.
While at the residence, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office allegedly found 124.9 grams of cocaine and 118.9 grams of ketamine, another 6.6 grams of cocaine in the homeowner’s pickup truck outside, safes containing more drugs and drug paraphernalia, and more than $7,500 in cash.
Detectives also found two arctic foxes in the backyard, which were turned over to Oakland County Animal Control. Owning an exotic animal is a “status thing” for some drug dealers, said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
“With overdoses still on the rise especially with cocaine, I am proud of our detectives from NET for bringing both their illegal drug dealing and illegal club to an end,” said Bouchard. “Drugs have no boundaries and these dealers surely had an impact on all communities throughout the county. Hopefully, their boundaries will soon be within the confines of a jail cell for their actions.”
Robiadek is charged with five crimes, including delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance (cocaine, heroin, or another narcotic, 50-449 grams), a charge that carries up to 20 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine; delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance (schedule 1, 2 and 3 except marijuana, methamphetamine, ecstasy and cocaine), a charge that carries seven years in jail and/or a $10,000 fine; possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, heroin or another narcotic, less than 25 grams), a four-year crime and/or $25,000 fine; possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, a two-year crime; and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, heroin or another narcotic, less than 25 grams), a four-year crime and/or $25,000 fine.
He faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted.
While searching the house, police found information about an illegal rave club operating in a building at 125 North Saginaw Street in Pontiac. They obtained another search warrant and found more drugs, drug processing material and a 12-gauge shotgun stored in a guitar case.
The lease for the rave club was in the name of one of the men arrested at the Dakota Street house earlier. According to the sheriff’s office, the city of Pontiac never issued a certificate of occupancy for the club because it failed fire, plumbing, electrical, and building code inspections. Police say the club hosted a large rave party on Aug. 16.
