Deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department responded to a residence on Parview Drive in Independence Township at 9:40 p.m. on December 15 on the report of family trouble.
The dispute involved an ex-boyfriend and girlfriend. The female caller stated her ex-boyfriend, a 34-year-old Independence Township man, was intoxicated and suicidal. While on the phone with dispatch, the female stated her ex-boyfriend had a gun and had just shot himself in the head.
Deputies arrived and secured the scene for the ITFD. It was obvious the male was beyond help. Independence Fire contacted a doctor at McLaren Clarkston, who pronounced the man deceased.
Detectives and an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and began their respective investigations. An evidence technician responded and collected the evidence at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
