B-ball wins marquee OAA tilt

Oak Park had won 29 straight OAA III contests before falling to Farmington Hills Harrison on Jan. 31.
Drew Maynard and the host Dragons sent Oak Park’s losing streak to two games on Feb. 3, with 79-56 shellacking.
The victory vaulted the Dragons into first place in the league with another big game looming.
Things were so bad for the visiting Knights that Maynard, a sophomore wing player, almost outscored them by himself in the first half.
Maynard had 20 points in the first half and 32 in the game, including six makes from behind the three-point line.
Lake Orion led 39-25 at the break.
The Dragons continued their strong play in the third quarter, extending their lead to as many as 27.
Marc Thompson added 12 points for LO, as the Dragons improved to 5-1 in league play and 11-2 overall.
LO hosted Harrison for the outright league lead in a game held after this edition of The Review went to print.
The Dragons must still travel to both Oak Park and Harrison, but will first continue their homestand against Kettering and Stoney Creek next week.
