Want some new books? How about a quilt?
Visit the Orion Township Public Library next week and you could end up with both.
The Friends of the Library will hold a lightly used book sale, beginning with a Friends member preview night on Tuesday (Sept. 23) and running through Saturday.
Those interested in the Friends preview night can purchase a one-year membership for just $10 that night.
In addition, the library is now selling raffle tickets for the quilt produced every year by the Friends.
‘They’ve been doing it for quite a few years now,? said Terry Larivee of the Friends? board. ‘It’s a tremendous undertaking.?
The quilt takes months to produce, and raffle tickets, for the Dec. 11 drawing, are just $1 each.
Penny Peterson, the library’s outreach coordinator, started the quilt idea in 1987, and said the first quilt took four years to finalize.
She noted that all proceeds from the quilt fundraiser, now created by a dedicated group of ladies, goes to the Friends.
