Clarkston City Council voted, Feb. 25, to approve first read of a proposed change to City Ordinances, to require all building projects obtain Planning Commission approval.
Current ordinance does not require site plan review by the Planning Commission or Historic District Commission for residential single family construction or modification outside the downtown Historic District. The new ordinance requires Planning Commission site plan review of single-family residences anywhere in the city.
The concern is making sure new houses in the city fit in, said Council member Sue Wylie.
“Let’s put a little review in by the Planning Commission,” said Wylie.
If approved for second reading at the next meeting, the change would take effect 30 days after.
