In the early morning hours of October 25, Independence Township officers responded to an alarm call at Weingartz Supply Company, located at 6585 Dixie Highway.
Officers observed a broken window with several pieces of equipment strewn on the ground below the window. A building and an area search were conducted without results.
A K9 Unit responded and began a track but was terminated without results.
The store manager arrived on the scene and accessed video from the surveillance cameras.
Deputies observed a white extended cab GMC Sierra pickup truck that had been in the parking lot. A subject was seen carrying two backpack blowers and walking in the direction of the truck.
While the deputies were reviewing the video, a white extended cab GMC Sierra pickup truck pulled back into the parking lot. Several pieces of equipment were seen in the bed of the truck. The officers reviewing the video notified officers in the area and they initiated a traffic stop.
The driver then pulled over his vehicle and the suspect, a 25-year-old Clarkston man, was taken into custody and lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
