Hadley Twp.-Members of the Hadley Community Church want to know, ‘What’s your purpose in life??
The church started a series of lectures from April 27-June 8 based on a book titled ‘The Purpose Driven Life.? At least 100 members of the 185 member congregation are currently involved.
Youth Pastor Ben Nordass said Senior Pastor Richard Geigert learned of the idea from Pastor Rick Warren of Sunvalley, Calif. He introduced the book in his church, Saddleback Community Church, and received enormous feedback from the participants.
‘Each person reads a chapter a week and memorizes a verse. We then meet on Sunday evenings to discuss what we have read,? said Nordass.
‘The groups range from seventh grade and on, so there’s quite a variety of thoughts.?
The first seven chapters are about fulfilling the purpose that God has laid out for us. The next seven deal with fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism. Each of the topics are broken into a different week.
Among the group that reads the book, other teams have been established for the purpose to educate the community and pray for the ones reading the book.
‘Sometimes people just don’t know what to do with the faith they have. This book is just a tool for some to use to sharpen that purpose,? said Nordass.
Members of the public are more than welcome to join, no one is excluded Nordass said.
On Sunday, April 27 the church released balloons in honor of the ‘Purpose Driven Life.?
‘It was a way for us to symbolize the fact that we don’t want to hold back, we want to be committed,? said Geigert.
