The Lake Orion Post Office is yet another victim of bad economic times.
They will have shorter summer hours that started July 6 and will run until sometime in September. The hours will be, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
‘There’s been a need to save some money,? said Kent Turner, retail supervisor at the post office. ‘Business is down, so there are cutbacks.?
Turner said the shortened hours will mostly affect those who stop by the post office on their way to work in the morning.
The regular hours that will commence in the fall are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
While postal customers won’t be able to walk into the office and get face-to-face service, they will still have access to the Automated Postal Center in the lobby.
Turner said post offices all over the area are suffering from cutbacks this summer.
