Palazzo di Bocce patrons got star treatment as they competed in Detroit Lions Tony Filippis Memorial Bocce Tournament. Most of the pro-football team was in attendance as well as many retired players and other celebrities.
The event was presented in association with Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame and the bocce hall. One third of the benefit’s proceeds went toward athletes with disabilities.
This is the tournament’s sixth year and Lions center Dominic Raiola said he’s been there every year but one.
‘It’s part of my responsibility of being a Detroit Lion,? he said.
Hall-of-famer and former Lions tight-end Charlie Sanders joined his team at the event. Sanders is involved in many other charitable organizations.
‘Why not be involved?? he said.
