Goodrich’s boys and girls cross country teams had a pretty solid outing in the Genesee Area Conference Red Division opener Sept. 21.
The girls team defeated Lake Fenton 15-49 and Byron 15-49, while the boys team lost to Lake Fenton 21-34 and won by forfeit against Byron.
For the girls team, the Martians took the top six places in the meet. Janee Jones took first place in 19:34, while Kayla O’Mara finished second (20:08) and Kaitlin O’Mara third (20:27).
Goodrich’s Jeremy Phan finished third among the boys runners (19:24).
The Martians had another strong outing Sept. 17, finishing second out of 25 teams at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing with 143 points. Clarkston, the top-ranked team in Division 1, was the only team to finish ahead of the Martians, winning the meet decisively with 46 points.
