Goodrich’s benches emptied twice within a week — but in a good way.
The girls varsity basketball team won two straight by lopsided margins to remain undefeated in league play, giving the bench players some valuable playing time.
The Martians had no problem defeating LakeVille, routing the visiting Falcons 72-13 in a Sept. 21 contest. Goodrich’s record improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Genesee Area Conference Red Division.
Seniors Julie Owen and Maribeth Barns, along with freshman Kortni Elsworth, led the Martians with 12 points apiece. Owen also led the Martians with six steals, while Elsworth added five.
In a game which saw a continuous clock in the second half, the Martians routed visiting Mt. Morris 64-7 on Sept. 16.
