Goodrich School District set for 2003-2004

Goodrich-Teachers and administrators in Goodrich are opening up classroom doors and gassing up busses to preparing up for the upcoming school year.
Listed below is a list of new teachers to each school, open house and orientation times, appropriate numbers to call, and other important dates to mark on the calendar.
n Oaktree Elementary
? Amy Zagata, who has been with Goodrich Schools for two years, will join Oaktree’s staff as Young 5’s and Special Ed teacher. Young 5’s is a new program this year designed for children who have completed preschool, but aren’t quite ready for Kindergarten.
? Also new to the Oaktree is Dawn Schmiedeknecht, who will be the new playground lunch supervisor.
? Christi Miller will teach Art this year to K-3.
? Linda Ross will be moving from Oaktree to the Goodrich Middle School teaching Science. Principal Kim Hart is currently interviewing for that position.
Oaktree’s open house is scheduled for Aug. 25 from 5-7 p.m. Classroom orientation meetings will be at the following times: 5th grade?5 p.m., 4th grade?5:30 p.m., 3rd grade?6 p.m.
n Reid Elementary also has new staff members joining their team this year.
? Christi Miller will be teaching Art at Reid as well as Oaktree.
? Kimberly Kubisz will start her first year at Reid as Resource Room teacher.
Reid Elementary’s open house is Sept. 10 from 6-7:30 p.m.
n The Goodrich Middle School is preparing for their first full year in the new facility, and have many new additions to their staff as well.
? Chris Hall will start his position as Director of Instrumental Music for the sixth, seventh and eighth grade.
? Jennifer Valenti is the new Special Ed teacher and will start her first year of teaching at Goodrich. The staff is happy to welcome her.
? Kelly McCarty is the new English/Social Studies teacher for grades 6-8, and is her first year as well in Goodrich.
? Linda Ross is transferring from Oaktree and will be teaching sixth grade Science.
The Middle School’s open house is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 8, from 6-8 p.m.
n The Goodrich High School is also gearing up for their first full year in the finished building. Administrators, teachers and students are pleased to make a fresh start in the new High School.
? John Lamerato is the new English teacher. This is Lamerato’s first teaching job at Goodrich.
? Vern Miller is returning this year in the Physical Education/Health position.
? Sheri Shultz will be teaching High School Math.
