Goodrich tribute planned

GOODRICH-The village lost one its most loved citizens, Gordon H. Bachmann Feb.7, and officials have found at least one way to honor his memory.
In light of his more than 30 years of dedication and service, the Goodrich Village Council on Monday, Feb. 17 voted to name the new Department of Public Works Building in his name.
Bachmann served as the village’s supervisor for the Department of Public Works and building inspector for Atlas Township.
A still-unanswered question is who will replace Bachmann as DPW supervisor.
Village President Jacki Sidge said they have not interviewed anyone for the supervisor position.
“We may hire from within,” said Sidge, “but we’re just not sure at this point what we will do.”
The new DPW building has not taken shape yet, but officials hope plans for the construction will come in midsummer.
“We’re getting bid packets together now and are working with financial advisors to get the project underway,” Sidge said.
