Historic home hosts first beertasting for OAC

The Orion Art Center will host a beer tasting fundraiser at the home of Jim and Lisa Cummins on Lake Orion next Saturday (Sept. 20) from 4-6 p.m.
Tickets are $35 per person and featured beers include Kuhnhenns Microbrews, as well as some home brews and light fare.
The Cummins have shared their gorgeous home for two successful OAC wine tasting events.
‘Many people have asked when we were going to hold a beer tasting, so we thought we would cater to the beer drinkers this time around,? said Lisa, a member of the OAC board of directors. ‘Our home and its surroundings have a lot of Orion history, so we are happy to help the art center and share our lakefront home at the same time.?
She added that following the event, there will be limited seating on a boat tour of historic Lake Orion that will commence at 6:30 p.m. and offer some interesting history of the lake (excerpts from Orion Historical Society records). Guests can take the boat tour for an additional $10.
Proceeds from the event will serve as matching funds for the art center’s community service grant, provided by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.
For close to 30 years, the non-profit OAC has been offering exhibits, classes, workshops, camps, concerts and special events, to help build a thriving and culturally rich community. To learn more about the art center, visit orionartcenter.org.
To reserve space at the beer tasting event, call (248)693-4986. OAC Director Reggie Harrison said to call early, as the event will sell out quickly.
