It’s over…

Atlas Township-The three year conflict between Atlas Township, Goodrich and Atlas Land Company is over.
Atlas Township officials received a letter from Atlas Land Company on Aug. 19 stating they were officially withdrawing their request for Rezoning Application of 173 acres on Hegel and Coolidge roads where the company intended to build 500-1,000 mobile homes.
Atlas Township Supervisor Paul Amman said the township can only speculate on the reason behind the withdrawal.
‘The bottom line, anything that was done properly is owed to the Planning Commission. They handled everything in a very professional manner.?
The President of Atlas Land Company, had no comment on the reason for the withdrawal.
Amman said when he received the letter, he was very surprised.
‘The township was wondering, what, if anything, was going to happen with this. The developer failed to show at the last public hearing so it left us questioning if what the next step would be from them.?
The debate has involved several hundred residents of Atlas Township, Goodrich, officials from Holly, Davison, Grand Blanc and many state representatives that took the opportunity to host a public hearing at Goodrich High School, opening the floor to the public.
Residents were concerned about the population increase in their community affecting the school systems, the need for extra police attention in those areas and environmental concerns. For now, their worries have been delayed.
