Jan, who graduated from Clarkston High School in 1967, was a proud member of the cheerleading team and showed off her wonderful sense of humor when she was voted “Class Clown” her senior year. After taking classes at U of M Flint, she married Dan in 1971. Jan had three son’s and was a devoted mother, while also launching two businesses. One of her businesses named “The Fitness Connection” which encapsulated her passion as a fitness enthusiast and amateur nutritionist.
She also found time to serve as the head coach for Clarkston High’s cheerleading team and assist in the family golf course business. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, long walks with her friends, birthday weekend up north, barbecues in the backyard with her family and grandkids and watching Clarkston sports, especially basketball. In her later years, she especially loved attending her grandchildren’s sports games, theater performances, and dance events and hated to miss anything they were doing. Her grandkids could do no wrong and always knew they would get the best back scratches when “Nana” was in town.
Those who knew Jan, Mom, “Nana”, will remember her for her beauty both inside and out. She was a kind, patient, positive, loyal person and always put other’s needs before her own. Her courageous fight against a terrible cancer while taking care of her sick husband was just one of the many examples of this selflessness.
Most importantly, Jan left a lasting impression on her ten grandchildren as their beloved Nana/Grandma, she created many memories they will cherish forever.
