The Lake Orion Baptist School Lions, after back-to-back losses last week, rebounded against the Faith Christian School Patriots of Clinton Township, 61 to 57.
The Lions hit 89 percent from the free throw line with 17 for 19.
This sealed the game as the Patriots had the same number of free throws, (11 for 19), but hit only 58 percent.
This was the second meeting of these two teams this year, with the Lions besting the Patriots in both games. However, the Patriots were missing their best scorer, Jonathon Knoedler, due to a severe ankle sprain.
The Patriots? Coach Mark Knoedler remarked to Coach Bullen at the end of the game that ‘perhaps we will see you in the playoffs.?
The Lions? record is now 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Fundamental Baptist Athletic Conference (FBAC).
The Lions were led by their senior Captain James Moreno with 25 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 assists and hit 7-7 from the free throw line. Co-Captain and junior Chris Hojanacki had 13 points, 4 rebounds, was 3-3 from the line, 3 steals, 1 block and 1 assist.Treavor Halleck had 12 points, 6 rebounds, was 3-3 from the line, and had 7 steals and 4 assists. Junior Matt Cameron had 9 points, was 5-7 from the line, had 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Senior Stephen Watson contributed with his defense with 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks and 2 points. Sophomore Conner Welby and freshman Brad Watterworth gave relief along the way and contributed with 1 block each.
The Lions will host the Bethany Christian School Bruins for their second round this season, which will be another conference for the Lions.
