Local woman named ‘Female Entrepreneur of Year?

Atlas Twp.-Kim Watters has always been a hard worker. She promised herself long ago that failure was just not an option.
When her phone rang telling her she would be recognized with the Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the 50th District, she was shocked.
Watters and her family traveled to Lansing for the afternoon for a luncheon ceremony with her state representative Paula Zelenko, 50th District.
‘I was so surprised. The day I received the call, I really needed a pick-me-up. That was just the thing to do it,? said Watters.
Nineteen other women across Michigan were given the award and were recognized for their proficiency in fields such as technology, health care, business and dedicated leadership. It is given from female legislators to female entrepreneurs to recognize their dedication and is a bipartisan nomination.
‘Kim Watters is the perfect example of a devoted wife, mother and community leader. She does not stop promoting positive points of people and encouraging them to be involved in their community,? said Zelenko.
Watters is Vice President of P.C Construction and has been for 19 years. She and her husband have also owned Mancino’s for six years and SaLoups for one year, all Burton businesses.
‘SaLoups is an idea that we had to offer a better variety of lunch and dinner items. It’s basically a soup and salad bar, and it’s just more health conscious all around,? said Watters.
During the event, a picture was taken on the Capitol steps, the recipients were introduced to the House of Representatives and mingled with other community leaders.
‘I really was dumbfounded. I didn’t expect it. My family was very supportive and proud of me and was happy to see me so happy.?
Watters? work ethic may be just what has made her businesses so successful.
‘We have a lot of kids with us from college and high school that are very hard workers. We treat everyone fairly and enjoy the opportunity that we’ve been given. We try to help these kids with their work ethic and hopefully it will pay off for their own future.?
