The Wolves took to the slopes against fierce competition in the Pine Knob Divisional High School Ski Race, Feb. 4 and 5. The Clarkston Girls Varsity Ski team finished in second place as Notre Dame finished in first and Cranbrook took the third place spot.
The Clarkston Boys Varsity Ski team finished in fourth place for the divisional. Rochester Adams finished in first place; Notre Dame Prep, second; and Bloomfield Hills, third. Medals were given to individual racers finishing in the top ten. Four from the girls team received medals for their Giant Slalom race with Courtney Bayley in fourth place; Sydney Thomas, fifth; Phoebe Savoie, seventh; and Lyndsey Nicosia, tenth. Maddie Leithouser finished in 13th place; Trisha Verbeke, 17th; and Olivia Foyteck, 22nd.
Four also received medals for the Slalom race with with Bayley finishing in third place; Thomas, sixth; Nicosia, eighth; and Savoie, tenth. Foyteck finished in 17th place; Leithouser, 20th; and Cameron Brosky, 21st.
Four from the boys team finished in the top 20 in Giant Slalom with Andrew Roeser in 12th place; Luke Farella, 14th; Andrew Foyteck, 17th; and Gunnar Karlstrom, 19th.
Noah Ostheimer finished in 36th place, Sawyer Haiss, 48th; and David Robinson, 56th.
Roeser medaled at the Slalom race, finishing in seventh place with two Wolves finishing in the top 20: Karlstrom, 18th and Farella, 19th. Ostheimer also scored for the Wolves, finishing 31st. Also racing were Nico Cifani, Robinson and Foyteck.
The top three teams qualified to race in the Southeastern Michigan Ski League at Mt. Holly, Feb. 18. Roeser also qualified with his top ten finish in the Slalom race.
The Wolves race in the MHSAA Ski Division 1, Region 2 race on Wednesday at Pine Knob Ski Resort. The top three teams advance to the state finals at Boyne Highlands Ski Resort in Harbor Springs, Feb. 24.
