Joseph Gabriel Mauti, 32, was sentenced, March 14, to 60 to 100 years in prison for the murder of Lindsey Mauti. He was found guilty of second-degree murder and animal torture in February. He killed his wife and dog on May 29, 2015, at their home on Cheshire Park Drive in Independence Township. Their two children were found unharmed in the home, and have been adopted by Lindsey’s mother. Joseph was on probation at the time for a 2014 conviction for domestic violence. Judge Rae Lee Chabot exceeded sentencing guidelines, which called for a maximum of 50 years.
