The wait, rumors and negotiations may soon come to a close.
According to Independence Township Supervisor Dave Wagner, township officials and Clarkston Community Schools are almost ready to shed some light on a land trade that would allow the construction of a new area senior center.
‘Nothing has happened yet, but we’re hoping sooner than later,? said Wagner. ‘An agreement has not been reached.
‘The school board was suppose to discuss it at the Monday night board meeting.?
However, school officials did not discuss any real estate issues at that time.
‘We want everything close to each other,? confirmed Clarkston Schools Director of Marketing and Communications Anita Banach. ‘That way we can interact with the students, administrators, library and seniors.?
A meeting was scheduled for school officials this past Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the matter. As of press time, Independence Township had a closed session real estate transaction on Tuesday night’s meeting agenda.
Wagner stated he intended to bring the matter before the township board at that time, but at deadline, was uncertain whether or not he would be able to do so.
