For the second time in just over two weeks, an indecent exposure by an adult male towards a young girl was reported in an Independence Township store on Dixie Highway.
The most recent incident occurred on June 23 at around 3 p.m. when a 7-year-old girl informed her mother that a man allegedly exposed himself to her by lifting his shorts more than once.
According to police reports, the mother, a Waterford resident, did not witness the incident but observed the suspect passing them many times in different aisles.
A separate witness also verified the young girl’s account, stated police reports.
Following the complaint, the mother called 911, but was unable to keep track of the man. A police search conducted of the store and area was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 30’s standing 5 foot 4 to 5 foot 7 inches tall with a slim athletic build. The man also reportedly has sandy brown hair, a possible mustache and was wearing dark red running shorts, an unknown color t-shirt and sunglasses.
The first alleged exposure took place at a different Dixie Highway store on June 8 around 9 p.m. as a Clarkston resident entered the checkout line with her three children. Upon returning to line after checking on her two boys at the front of the checkout, the woman noticed the man’s shorts undone as he exposed himself to her 9-year-old daughter.
According to reports, the girl was looking at the cashier and did not see.
The suspect is described as a 40-year-old white male who was balding with gray hair, no facial hair or glasses and wearing a white jersey with the blue number 32 trimmed with yellow.
The suspect was seen being picked up by another white male in a late model burgundy 1980’s GM Sedan.
The woman notified police after paying her bill and exiting the store quickly.
According to Detective Tim Hein, police believe the suspects involved are two different men.
Both cases remain under investigation.
