Seniors put on a rockin? show at Canterbury

‘We seniors need good fellowship. We are so thankful to be able to attend this event,? said Dora and Max Lee. The couple volunteered at the Orion Senior Center’s Redefine Your Retirement expo.
King’s Court Castle hosted the event May 21, which featured information on hospice, estate planning, assisted living, nursing facilities, senior health products, medical equipment, health screenings, Alzheimer’s and dementia and more.
‘It’s good advertising for many purposes,? said the Lees. ‘Seniors need this kind of information.?
Lisa Sokol, director of community planning, said the event was targeted at two audiences: seniors and their caregivers.
For seniors, the expo offered up services, resources and programming available in the community.
Caregivers were able to explore residential opportunities, home care and Hospice and legal services.
The expo proved successful as over 650 visitors made their way to Canterbury Village, according to Sokol.
?[It’s] a beautiful site,? she said. ‘They were a wonderful host.?
Sokol estimates that the event doubled its attendance from last year.
The number of vendors went up, too, to nearly 90.
Orion Township Treasurer Alice Young was on hand, volunteering at the door and welcoming guests.
?[The expo is] a great opportunity to learn about all the vendors for seniors in one place,? she said.
