Rarely can two teams earn praise for their comeback efforts in the same game, but that was the case last Tuesday when Seaholm traveled to Lake Orion in an OAA Red volleyball tilt.
The end result was a five-game victory for the visitors and left Dragons Coach Bob Howey feeling largely unfulfilled.
‘We didn’t give up. We fought until the end,? he said. ‘We just have to make a few more plays when the pressure’s on at the end.?
The Dragons dropped the first two games, 21-25 and 20-25, but roared back in game three, 25-16. They were down 22-24 in the fourth game and won four consecutive points to force a decisive game to 15.
In game five, the Dragons led by as many as five points early, but Seaholm came back to tie things at 12 and used that momentum to eke out a 15-13 victory.
‘I thought we had turned the tables last Thursday against Adams, but it takes more than one win,? Howey said.
The coach added that his young team is still trying to find itself at the season’s midpoint.
‘I went to a different lineup and we won two games there and almost pulled that third one out,? he said. ‘So I guess that helped a little bit.?
The Dragons fell last Thursday at Farmington and are now 1-4 in league play (5-12-6 overall).
They host Groves on Thursday and travel to Troy next Tuesday.
