Stadium Drive motors down to the ‘D?

Detroit doesn’t have many fans these days.
The city doesn’t have the greatest reputation in the region and the Big Three are being battered daily, but both still have their supporters.
Namely, the fourth grade class at Stadium Drive Elementary.
They recently put on the production Into the D!, a fractured fairy tale that follows Goldie, (a play on Goldilocks) as she searches for the Big Three automakers (taking the place of bears).
Along the way, she encounters D-Town landmarks such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, Hockeytown Cafe, the Spirit of Detroit and a coney dog salesman from Lafayette Coney Island.
‘We were looking for something positive with all that’s going on in Detroit and with the Big Three,? said fourth grade teacher Theresa Ratkowiak.
The tale is narrated by the D-Town storytellers, who are dressed in glittering gowns reminiscent of a Motown group.
‘We thought it would be a good idea, considering it’s Motown’s 50th anniversary,? said music teacher, Todd Gordon.
Goldie is introduced to the Detroit landmarks by personalities such as the Little Red Wing Fan and the Big Bad Wolverine.
The musical was written by Michigan playwright Jacquelyn Priskhorn and the sets were designed by Mark Barrera, a local artist.
