Susan Lee Banworth, 71

Susan Lee Banworth; of Clarkston; passed away July 18, 2024 at the age of 71 after a long, hard fought battle with breast cancer. Loving wife of Jeff Banworth for 44 years; mother of Benjamin (Renée) Banworth and Cameron Banworth; grandmother of Beckett Banworth; sister of Marsha Purple, James Moreen Jr., Michael Moreen, Cindy Moreen, and Rhonda Wismer; preceded in death by her parents James and Eloise Moreen.
Susan received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Michigan State University and was a lifelong Spartan. She taught elementary and middle school in Clarkston Schools for 43 years, where she touched so many lives. Her passion was in gifted education and for 33 of those years, Susan co-created and taught Clarkston’s gifted program: Clarkston Academically Talented (CAT), where 4th and 5th graders from all the Clarkston schools came to visit her classroom.
Susan was a dedicated hockey mom and was deeply involved in her children’s and grandchild’s lives. She and Jeff were classic car enthusiasts who enjoyed cruising their 1966 Corvette down Woodward Avenue and to classic car shows. In the summers, she enjoyed spending time at their boat on Lake St. Clair with family and friends. At home, she enjoyed gardening and house projects.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on July 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston. A Time of sharing will take place at 12 p.m. Family and friends are invited afterwards to a Celebration of Life. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G.
