Clarkston SCAMP Walk and Roll is back for 2021 and is held virtually the week of May 10-16.
“We are excited to be able to offer the virtual event because we have not been able to fundraise due to COVID,” said Aimee Baker, executive director. “The reason we do the Walk and Roll is because more than half of the kids who come to SCAMP have no means of paying for it. All funds to help kids going to SCAMP who can’t afford it.”
Baker added physical education departments in the elementary schools in the Clarkston Community Schools district will have the students participate in the SCAMP Walk and Roll during gym class the week of May 10-14.
The school with the most pledges receives the Golden Shoe, which is currently at Independence Elementary after winning it during the last SCAMP Walk and Roll.
“We like the kids to get involved,” Baker said, adding it’s a great way to help others.
The event is also a good opportunity for families to get out to walk or bike.
When you pledge at least $25, you will receive a T-shirt, which will be available for pick-up at the Clarkston Community Schools Administration building, 6389 Clarkston Road, on Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. To pledge, please visit www.clarkstonscamp.org/walk-and-roll.
There are also opportunities to win prizes which includes student with most pledges; student with most money raised; and cutest picture post on Clarkston SCAMP Facebook page.
Sponsorship opportunities are available until April 28.
