Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
You have taken your final tests, received your caps and gowns and taken the final walk in your high schools.
I will say it was nice to see smiling faces at the Clarkston High School Senior Funcheon, May 21. It was nice to see smiles. The masks were down as the students enjoyed time outside with friends and classmates after the last 14 months.
Your senior year probably didn’t go as you thought it would when you pictured it. You probably didn’t foresee a pandemic happening during the end of your junior year and continuing throughout your senior year.
I am not going to sugar coat it – it wasn’t an easy year. You had to be ready for change from seeing friends and family less to slow the spread of COVID-19 to starting the school year with virtual classrooms. Then making the decision to continue virtual or to go face-to-face with a lot of changes.
If anything, I hope you learned something this year. Life isn’t going to go as planned. It’s how you react which teaches you a lot about yourself and others around you.
Some of you know exactly what you want to do and how you are going to do it. Some of you don’t and it’s completely fine. Each of you have your own path to go after you walk across the stage and receive your diploma.
I know you will do amazing things. How do I know this? I have been at The Clarkston News for close to 14 years, I have watched you grow and do amazing things. I know it will continue.
You, Class of 2021, are amazing. And, we will miss you!
As always, I wish for all of you the best of luck and happiness. Give us a shout and let us know how you are doing, what you are doing.
A shoutout to parents, guardians and family trying to give your seniors the best final year they could have in high school.
A shoutout to Clarkston Community Schools administration, staff and faculty for everything during the school year. It was not an easy year.
Hmmmm, now what quote for this year’s graduating class…Wait, I’ve got it…
