A 75-year-old Orion resident was found by deputies last Thursday, over two days after she went missing from her Greenshield Road home, according to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report.
Dolores Reuter was last seen at home by her husband last Tuesday afternoon and an air search and K-9 search Wednesday afternoon, after police were called, yielded negative results.
Reuter suffers from Alzheimer’s, but is not on any medication. It is believed she was attempting to walk to her daughter’s home in Oxford Township, as she has in the past, when she became lost and confused.
Area businesses and hospitals were contacted, and a canvas of the neighbors revealed that the woman was near the Polly Ann Trail entrance at Greenshield and Joslyn on Tuesday evening.
The two-day search involved over 100 deputies and volunteers, and it ended when Reuter was found 100 yards north of Scripps Road, near the Polly Ann Trail at around 6 p.m. Thursday.
She had numerous cuts and abrasions from two nights out in the heavy brush, and was transported to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for treatment for dehydration and exposure.
‘I am so pleased that this incident has come to a happy ending for this woman and her family,? said Sheriff Mike Bouchard. ‘I am also very proud of my deputies and all of the volunteers who did not give up hope and were determined to find this woman alive. I thank them all.?
